Our current healthcare system is set up to create immense profits for private insurance and pharmaceutical companies – instead of caring for all of us. While these companies make billions of dollars, in the last ten years, an estimated 20,000 New Yorkers died unnecessarily due to lack of health insurance. Over 1 million New Yorkers currently lack health insurance. Undocumented immigrants are barred from accessing health insurance. And 50% of New Yorkers who are covered by private health insurance plans delayed or skipped basic care due to cost.
We’re fighting back for a single-payer health care system in New York, and nationally, that would provide comprehensive coverage for everyone, address health disparities, and reduce costs. We’re fighting for a system that prioritizes all our lives instead of private profit.
