This is how we can keep families together

I joined Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson to fight for a world where children didn’t have to grow up in fear like I did. Will you help us fund the fight by making a donation today?

After 9/11, an executive order took away my family’s right to get a driver’s license. My uncle became one of the countless people who couldn’t identify themselves. The police arrested my uncle because they thought he was a gang member and he couldn’t prove who he was. When they realized their mistake, it was too late. My uncle was deported and ripped away from his family.

RIGHT NOW, the New York State Assembly is preparing to take a vote on the legislation to restore our access to driver’s licenses. We are on the verge of preventing thousands of deportations and keeping our families together.

I had nightmares of my parents being deported all the time. I look back and I remember this little kid who didn’t have a chance to say anything — but now I do.

I’ve already learned that when we fight together, we can win. In the year that I’ve been a member of Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson, we’ve won FIVE municipal IDs. We’ve literally made history together in coordinating the biggest regional municipal ID effort across the entire country. And now, we’re on the verge of winning back our right to drive.

We’re aiming to raise $150,000 in one week so that we can continue building power and winning victories to keep thousands of families together. Help us win by donating at nobodyleavesmidhudson.org/donate

P.S. It’s also my birthday if you needed another reason to give 🎈🎊
