Our vision at Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson has always been to continually deepen our struggle for social change. With three years of growth we’re excited to announce that we are entering a new phase: we are launching a second campaign.
Our experience fighting foreclosure, as well as the inspiring leadership emerging from homeowners fighting for their home, has made it possible to expand our work beyond foreclosure.
Our new project is the People’s Power campaign, which organizes Poughkeepsie residents impacted by the utility monopoly Central Hudson’s unjust policies that disproportionately hurt working class communities of color. Shutoffs, unaffordable bills, and inadequate assistance programs make heating and lighting a displacement issue for working families. Our current members affected by Central Hudson are taking the lead in this new campaign and the fight for economic and racial justice. We will continue the anti-foreclosure campaign, which will shift from being the whole organization to being an ongoing campaign led by members.
To make People Power a reality, we are excited to announce a matching gift campaign to raise $26,000 in December.
We received a generous challenge grant from donors, so every dollar donated up to $13k will be matched dollar for dollar! By giving today you will double your impact!
By donating, you will make it possible for us to reach thousands of Poughkeepsie residents who can’t afford to keep the heat on this Winter.
